Installed 4 node cluster – services not starting Ambari 1.7 HDP 2.1

centos 6.5
ambari 1.7. HDP 2.1
4 node physical cluster
Followed documentation – exactly from

All products installed but very few if any services have started
How does HDP start services? Im on centos so I would expect a service – I do see ambari server and agent services but thats it

Also, I dont see any type of $HADOOP_HOME or variables set

please tell me how these services are supposed to get started
