This is very strange.
In my experience, when the case is very mysterious, the cause is usually very silly.
To debug,
can you try running ‘set <conf name>’ from beeline, for each of the sql standard auth config params, to see if they show the expected settings ?
Can you also verify that the restart of HS2 actually killed the old process and started new one ?
