Hi Helmut,
I have this problem also, using the “embedded” Postgres91 database, which insists on encoding=UNICODE. This problem halts subsequent services from installing, so it means that Hive + HBase must be installed separately, in a second round, with the fix you described above. As all of the prior schema scripts also have UTF8, I guess it is Postgres that has changed; or an installation configuration step to change this was missed.
