There is enough hype about Kafka coming up with quite improved version of High Level consumer

I did wrote mails couple of times over last 2 months to get to understand their plans to release this API. I sent mail to users@kafka.apache.org. However seems this is not the correct place to send mails to.
Can any one please help me with this. In case hortonworks is coming up with its release that way I can migrate to hortonworks installtion.
