unable to access hdfs with AD account with Kerberos enabled

Dear experts,
I have kerberos enabled via ambari.
I am able to access hdfs after creating a ticket using any account stored in the kdc database, which uses the kdc realm name.

However, I am unable to access hdfs after creating a ticket using my AD account.
Below is the output i get.

[root@mdc2vr9062 ~]# klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_0
Default principal: m483168@FEDERATED.FDS

Valid starting Expires Service principal
10/21/15 14:58:43 10/22/15 00:58:47 krbtgt/FEDERATED.FDS@FEDERATED.FDS
renew until 10/28/15 14:58:43
[root@mdc2vr9062 ~]# hdfs dfs -ls /
ls: failure to login

Any help is greatly appreciated.
