Ranjit:
Note that we have several Sandboxes on our download player. In my own experiments, I once wrongly attempted to use a Sandbox for VirtualBox image on VMware, and experienced a number of problems. Do be sure to select the correct image. It’s also a good idea to review the installation instructions we provide. Although they were written assuming the use of VMware Fusion for a Mac OS/X machine, I’ve found the guidance of some assistance. You can find that guidance here: http://hortonworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/InstallingHortonworksSandbox21onaMacUsingVMwareFusion.pdf
Also, many of the tutorials are written assuming the use of the VirtualBox, and indicate accessing the sandbox at this URL: http://127.0.0.1:8888/
The Sandbox running on VMware is different, and it will be necessary to access it via the IP provided.
Lastly, I haven’t used the Sandbox on VMware player myself, but there is a possibility some features of the Sandbox may be incompatible with the VMware Player. If possible, consider using VMware Workstation.
Best of luck, and happy hadooping.
