Several thousand threads are BLOCKED

Hi,

We have Hadoop: 2.4.0. HDP: 2.1.2 and we are seeing the following:

ps -efL | grep Dproc | wc -l
3487

Basically some of the datanodes have 3000+ threads running. Using jstack and creating a thread dump reveals the following:

Thread 7224: (state = BLOCKED)
- sun.misc.Unsafe.park(boolean, long) @bci=0 (Compiled frame; information may be imprecise)
- java.util.concurrent.locks.LockSupport.park(java.lang.Object) @bci=14, line=186 (Compiled frame)
