Solved this by using Ambari API calls to update what could be updated, applying those changes (complete w/new versionKey), exporting Ambari’s Postgress database, editing server names in the postgress export, re-importing Ambari’s Postgress database, editing MySQL backed Hive/Metastore by granting new FQDN and removing the old names and granting hive and root access to right FQDN and also updating hive.DBS for proper DB_LOCATION_URI and also update hive.SDS for FQDN, editing Ambari agent ini files, editing hue and other conf files, updating smtp relay, start then stop cluster manually to write all configs and review.
This is not an automatic nor easy task and takes quite a lot of knowledge to accomplish. If you’re struggling with the need to do this, let me know and I’ll help you out.
