I’ve had no luck with the Hortonworks HDP 2.3 (Ambari) installation of Ranger. I’ve tried a couple times now and both times have been marked with failing services and weird behaviour, e.g. when I call Hive on the command line and never actually get to an actual hive prompt whereas before I was able to do so.
Basically, after installing Ranger twice, once on my own freshly installed cluster, properly set up and as much as I can tell (I’ve set up like 50+ clusters) and once on Hortonworks’ own sandbox virtual machine, both times lead to java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused from one service or another.
Is there a document that specifically covers how it’s expected that Ranger is to be installed using Ambari on our HDP 2.3 clusters? I haven’t been able to find one.
